The Barawak Deptford Launch is a vibrant family-friendly community based celebration on Sunday 19th October 2025, marking the opening of our new community hub in the Lewisham borough (SE8) and coinciding with Black History Month 2025 under the empowering theme "Standing Firm in Power and Pride."
This event honours the resilience and contributions of African, Caribbean, and wider local communities by showcasing live drumming and reggae performances, authentic Afro-Caribbean food tastings (like jerk chicken and jollof rice), interactive health and wellness stalls, children's activities including a bouncy castle and face painting, economic empowerment workshops, and a panel discussion on community strength.
With an expected attendance of 200+ residents, alongside invited guests such as Lewisham councillors, the Mayor, local businesses, and media, it fosters unity, cultural pride, and real impact while advancing our £100,000 crowdfunding goal to create a sustainable space for ongoing programs in poverty relief, education, and advocacy.
